Chapter 2
An Archangel watched Earth from afar, knowing that their creation— humankind— was once more on the brink of annihilation. Technologically speaking, they had made leaps and bounds; in just the span of a century they had developed combustion engines, medicine, and countless other landmarks of advancement. However, with the discovery of the splitting of the atom, they chose to use their knowledge in order to create the greatest weapons to scar the earth.
The Archangel shook his head. With a few quick manipulations of the blinking screens before him, he dispatched Angels across the surface of the planet in order to prevent the humans from annihilating themselves. Now standing in silence, he contemplated their creation’s failure to live a peaceful existence.

In an age long ago, a plague born to kill them all
And just before the night they are pulled from the darkness
Unknown to the survivors a hand has been given
And in their time of need they are saved again

Why do they pray to this madness in a house of lies?
Must we reveal ourselves to our own creation?
In a storm they live and die, born in fire

Faith in gods unseen In structures made of stone
Hate from religion in a world that’s become torn
Inherent in everyone, a growing insanity
Can it be stopped in time before they are unborn?

A ravaged world releases toxic waste into the air
They’re creating their own demise
In a war to end all, a weapon’s being built
And just before completion they are saved again
