cory_m Not a bad song here!!
V_Shaft
V_Shaft thumbnail
V_Shaft 3rd Ancient Empire album, and just as good as the rest. How can one make such consistently great music in such a short amount of time? This is essential material in every metalhead's collection. Favorite track: The Battle Of Stirling Bridge.
Bloodied But Unbowed
Bloodied But Unbowed thumbnail
Bloodied But Unbowed None of Ancient Empire's albums will disappoint power metal fans. Like on the Other World record, the songwriting on The Tower feels touching, with pervading themes of the fate of mankind. Ancient Empire has such a clean, polished sound for power metal that grows on you as you listen closer. Favorite track: The Last Sunset.
MindOverFour
MindOverFour thumbnail
MindOverFour The best out of three amazing albums. They walk a fine line between traditional metal, NWOBHM, and power metal. There is something that makes it a specifically American example of true metal. I think it may be a touch of grittiness to the guitar tone and a raspy vocalist that would fit right into an 80s hair metal band. Favorite track: Darker Side Of Midnight.

The Tower 06:51
THE TOWER After the flood Humanity with one voice A tower built for the heavens In homage to a god Stone forever climbing A monolith to forever Words are but sounds Lost in the air Will we not ever understand? How did we go so wrong before our god? Did we ignore his command? After the fall Screaming in the dark Lost In an age of confusion Denied the reach to Heaven Cast down upon the earth Lost ambition gone forever   The greatest wind to ever blow Laid flat the hubris of man A confusion of many tongues With a race divided  Scattered now across the land What is this that climbs before me? Has my creation lost its way? How has this ever come to be? How could I trust them not to stray? The greatest wind to ever blow Laid flat the tower of man The greatest wind to ever blow Destroyed the tower of man

Endless Curse A fog falls off a distant shore A land long forgotten High above in mountains of mist The Shadows come alive Ancient walls crumble to dust Buildings long deserted Unholy eyes stare in the night Longing for truth Pre chorus: An ancient cry can be heard And tears seen in the stone Whispers of hope long lost Ride the wind Whatever happened no one knows The ruins tell no tale Lost to the cold of death Mysteries for the living The Silent screams in the dark As the centuries pass on Souls crying for their release From this endless curse Untold lives have been lost here A Sacrifice to unseen gods In this stone so forsaken The spirits haunting this place They lay just beyond the veil Trapped forever they will call

THE VIEW FROM UP HERE A spinning ball of perfect blue Suspended in the icy black My mother holds me here on high Circling on an infinite track There’s beauty in the constancy Of a nighttime never ending I was once like all of you Now I float above it all This serenity is my domain I know one day I'll return This ship my only home If only I could find a way On the surface life goes on The race from birth to death Fighting, loving, struggling Until your final breath If you could see what I see You’d feel no hate or fear All our problems seem so small When they're viewed from way up here Light flashes through the glass Strange reflections in my eyes Satellites are dark, communication dead Below me the cities burn And fire consumes the earth Am I the only witness to the end When my fuel is spent  My orbit will decay I’ll burn up on reentry More ashes on a cinder The rest of my life Now just moments in time No chance for rescue I can only accept my fate
4.
In The Land Of The Damned A man made from science Betrayed by them all Forced to flee into the night Injecting as he falls Humanoid empathic But nothing remains here A creature with no memory It now feeds on fear A trade in this darkened sea A bride for all the gold Within these darkened depths She is bound to this withered hoard All hail the queen! Alive again she walks among us Ageless with beauty We're forever bound to her Down to the tower Lost within the sea Awaken in the darkness A being trapped for eternity Cast down from deep in space Falling endlessly Into the atmosphere To the bottom of the sea Life in the shadow of man Will he ever be free? In search of isolation He wanders on aimlessly Your fear a cause to burn My touch it brings you pain Has he finally reached his end? And found death In the land of the damned I am the last one you'll see Your blood now sinking down Death from her cutlass She cursed the crew of the serpent crown
5.
THE BATTLE OF STIRLING BRIDGE   So long since the great civil wars When England won the day An uprising now in the north Edward’s troops they march again A great promise of adventure Recruited to fight for the crown We’ll die as heroes and men If they won’t bow we’ll bring them down    On rolling hills and plains of green We will meet the enemy For valor and the glory   In this year of our Lord By the will of our king Warhorses set to ride Through the north of England In this year of their death When our swords have found them Songs sung to our victory At the Battle of Stirling Bridge    The Scots lay across the bridge A peasant army poised to fight Our commander orders us on So we cross the narrow way They attack without warning Our cavalry meets its end Pushed back to the waters edge Am I to die with my countrymen?    The cursed thing broken and burned But Wallace ran us down We fight for freedom they say As we stain this sacred ground But I’m a soldier to the end Still young and courage-strong My life bound for lasting glory Told in tales and song

THE DARKER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT All the time in the world Still passes away As scientists warn We approach the day Since we first split the atom The terrible course is set Waiting somewhere down the line The extinction threat With the sweep of a hand Everything will change When nuclear winter’s Within firing range Drums of war pound away A twisted last rite Now enter forever The darker side of midnight The arms race it escalates As stockpiles grow The technology of death To destroy our foe Our enemies do the same Deterrents in place A mutual assurance To end the human race Our time of peace Now just a memory A violent crescendo The drums pounding endlessly A time now forgotten Erased from our history Extinction ending A fate for all mankind
7.
YESTERDAY’S HERO See the faces as they pass Their eyes look right through you How could they know what you have seen? And would they even care? Yesterday’s hero He wanders this world alone So useless and forgotten With no battles left to fight Medals pinned upon your chest On that day of victory When Earth was saved against all odds In a time so long ago Are you just a reminder? Of a time that's best forgotten? The children of the future Will never know our sacrifice
8.
THE DAWN OF FOREVER Long ago when darkness fell Civilization plunged into night Lives wasted, spent trapped within A tunnel of sorrow devoid of light Triumph, reclaim and rebuild A celebration of victory Slate wiped clean, begin again Restore us to this our former glory The ruins of old decay Our reminders of the past We leave with our yesterdays To be forgotten at last Now behold this world we’ve made This feat of human endeavor We declare ourselves supreme At the dawn of forever Landscapes of nothing Slowly returning to life From shades of death Rise the next cities of home Can our new world Exist without peril In the time to come Rise the new people of Earth Restoration now complete The recreation of what we knew The sun blesses our efforts The countless years we struggled through Shining in the bright of day A gift for those yet to be Will they realize our dream? Was for a future we’d never see
9.
THE LAST SUNSET   The great ship which saved us A relic on display Brave souls now just names on a wall The heroes from our past Now gone so long ago Do we dishonor them all?   The new world we’ve built From ashes of the old Do we now echo our enemy? Technology is learned Influenced designs A shadow forever haunting us   The sun that once rose to bless us And knight our glorious day Seems now so cold and distant A blaze of gold turning grey Our quest to shame the past An accidental sin Forever seeking enlightenment Somewhere we lost the way And at the very end Became the thing that we hate The sky afire as our future dies Our last sunset came too soon!
